3 Kids Hurt When Wind Blows Bounce House Into Air

SOUTH GLENS FALLS, N.Y. May 13, 2014 (AP)

Two New York boys are hospitalized after a strong gust of wind blew an inflatable bounce house high off the ground while they were playing inside it.

Police tell The Post-Star of Glens Falls ( http://bit.ly/1gj8m1b ) that a 10-year-old girl and two boys, ages 5 and 6, were in the structure at a South Glens Falls townhouse community Monday afternoon when it broke loose from stakes holding it down.

Officers say the girl was near the door and fell as it became airborne, suffering minor scrapes. They say the bounce house was about 15 feet off the ground when the boys tumbled out.

One landed on a parked car while the other fell onto asphalt.

Both are hospitalized Tuesday morning. Information on their injuries and conditions hasn't been released.

The inferno broke out around 2:43 p.m. Wednesday on Beacon St. in the city's Back Bay neighborhood. All available fire personnel have been called to help fight the massive blaze.

At least 17 people, including several firefighters, have been hospitalized after a 9-alarm, wind-whipped blaze broke out in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood.

The inferno began in the basement of a four-story brownstone at 298 Beacon St. around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, the Boston Fire Department tweeted. It since spread up through all the floors and out through the roof.

The 17 have been been taken to area hospitals, according to Boston EMS,  but the extent of their injuries is unclear.
One firefighter was in cardiac arrest as his desperate colleagues loaded him into an amublance, WCVB-TV reported.

He was described as in serious condition by a fire department spokesman.

The city is experiencing 45 mph wind gusts Wednesday so crews were fighting to keep the blaze from spreading.

A 9-alarm fire means the blaze is severe enough to bring out all available fire crews, WCVB-TV reported. More than 150 firefighters are battling the fire from outside the structure.


No residents are reported missing. Massachusetts General Hospital says they are treating two patients.
